Another old video.
When we were doing are UK-on-a-shoestring tour this summer I came across these scenesters in a field somewhere in middle England.
I love mechanical music. "That's weird" as George would say.

Beef
After an amazing European tour we've hopped over the Atlantic to Montreal. Straight from the airport to an ice hockey match. 5:4 to Montreal, yeah. Then off to Schwartz's for Beef. See you later at the tulip.

COME WANDER WITH ME
From an episode of the Twilight Zone entitled "Come Wander with me" where some young cock o' the walk rockabilly encounters a girl singing this song by a river. He tries to buy the rights to the song but she refuses (good move, he'd probably make it sound like Shakin' Stevens) then all goes awry for our (anti)hero.
What a beautiful song though. I think the group "Air" did a mix CD with this on it.
The first comment on the youtube page I found this on, reads,
"she really is beautiful. Even though its old."
Ha ha.

COVER
-----
This is the cover of our new LP.
The photograph was taken by Soren Starbird by the side of the Barras in Glasgow. We’re shooting a series with photographers we like in different cities we end up in. The Ulysses cover was taken in Brooklyn by Guy Eppel and we were in Paris and Warsaw with Youri Lenquette and Joe Dilworth recently. They’re shot as imaginary crime scenes, invaded by the photographer. A slice of night frozen by flash. Weegee as
Cindy Sherman.

KROQ RADIO, LA
Hear "Ulysses" on Kroq LA.
See it live in LA on Dec. 14.
BBC Radio 2's Mark Radcliffe / Stuart Maconie nominated Ulysses for their 'Pick N Mix' listener vote this week - the winner will be their Record Of The Week next week.
Yesterday I had Borsht and dumplings for breakfast in Warsaw and pasta, steak tartar and red wine in Milan for tea. Whit a kerry oan!
I guess the bumside is missing my family like crazy.
To come and play in a town like Warsaw where none of us have ever been before and have 2000 in a room going crazy to your music is pretty incredible. Our friend Joe who took the shots for the inner sleeve of our 1st album, took some more pics of us outside the Palace of Culture & Science, an imposing symbol of Stalinism given to the people of Warsaw as a gift or rather a reminder of who the daddy is. We did some shots in the familiar "Weegee" style with Alex and Nick playing dead, face down on the sopping wet stairs.
We also had the pleasure of hosting Berlin's Kissogram as our opening act, with Joe again on drums, I can't remember the last time I saw an audience react with so much enthusiasm to a support act, although to simply dismiss them as a support would be doing them a great disservice. They are a stellar electronic pop group in the vein of say, Sparks or Momus and tunes fall like golden apples from their behinds. I hope we get tp play together again soon.
Here's list of some tunes I've already listened to since this morning...
Roots Manuva - Again & Again
TP Orchestre Poly- Rhythmo de Cotonou - Mi Ni Non Kpo
Clinic - Tomorrow (DFA mix)
The Drones - Nail it Down
Skream - Fick
Kissogram - Prominent Man
Cheap Time - Zig Zag
Vivian Girls - Wild Eyes
Orchestra Super Mazembe - Gina
Abe Vigoda - Skeleton
The Bug feat Tippa Irie - Angry
Stay lucky

WARSAW
So back ont'road again, La Cigalle was memorable, Stockholm was sublime and Berlin was bangin'.
Thanks to one and all for appreciating our new stuff, we promise to play more as and when we have it polished and giggable, I reckon some of the less rehearsed numbers just need a wee baptism o' fire. Send him Away's gonna sound great once we all play it in the right key (sorry bout that Berlin).
Had the good fortune to be paired up with some stellar acts though, Yo Majesty! in Paris were pure amazin' as were Kamerakino the other night and Park Hotell in Stockholm were a real discovery.
Just arrived in Warsaw, looks a lot like Glasgow, grey, dreech, industrial with a big shitting motorway through the middle. I think I need to hit the old town for a more balanced picture.
