Franz Ferdinand announce North American tour
Franz Ferdinand’s MySpace www.myspace.com/franzferdinand page modestly announces them as “four guys who met in Glasgow and started a band.” The four guys have a new album due in January, titled Tonight: Franz Ferdinand, and are undertaking a brief North American tour to preview the record.
“Ulysses” and an alternate version of “Lucid Dreams” have already provided a taster for the album, which frontman Alex Kapranos describes as ”more of a dance record than a rock record.” The live shows should be celebratory affairs, with the band members looking to hit the same kind of groove that made their first album so popular.

They'll hit the road in December
Franz Ferdinand www.nme.com/artists/franz-ferdinand have announced that they will play several North American dates in December.
The band, who are set to release their new album, 'Tonight: Franz Ferdinand', in the US on January 27, will kick things off in Montreal on December 3.
They'll then play a series of radio-station sponsored holiday gigs in cities including Boston, Portland, Oakland and Las Vegas, before wrapping things up in San Diego on December 15.
The band intend to preview several new songs at their live appearances.

Franz Ferdinand has confirmed the details regarding its third studio album. Titled Tonight: Franz Ferdinand, the 12-track album will be released on Tuesday January 27th 2009 via Domino/Epic records. The album was recorded by the band and producer Dan Carey at its own HQ in Govan, Glasgow and Carey’s South London studio.
“Tonight: Franz Ferdinand is music of the night: to fling yourself around your room to as you psyche yourself for a night of hedonism, for the dance-floor, flirtation, for your desolate heart-stop, for losing it and loving losing it, for the chemical surge in your bloodstream,” frontman Alex Kapranos said in a statement. “It’s for that lonely hour gently rocking yourself waiting for dawn and it all to be even again.”
The group previewed a handful of its newest songs during a series of surprise Brooklyn, NY shows last week. On October 7, the band played a short set at a Barack Obama benefit held at Brooklyn’s Music Hall of Williamsburg, and the following night the group returned to the club for a stealth show of their own. On October 11, Franz Ferdinand also played a few songs at Brooklyn party hosted by the clothing company Diesel, including a short collaboration with rapper T.I.
